Pendleton School Budget Crunch

PENDLETON - The Pendleton School District told us Thursday they want your thoughts on next year's budget shortfall.

The gap for the 2010-11 school year is just about $600,000. An online survey lets you put in your two cents. In the two weeks it's been up, KEPR learned most people are asking to bring back the ten lost school days from the current school year.

We asked if that would mean a trade for cutting jobs instead, but Pendleton says it's too early to tell. Parents are worried.

"I'm honestly scared for their education. Kids missed more days this year. If they bring these days back but lose a teacher, whats the benefit? They lose the quality of the education," said local parent Seth Hiatt.

One casualty may be the summer school program, but that would only save $50,000 dollars.
