9 taken into custody at Target for possession of stolen property
KENNEWICK POLICE NEWS RELEASE -- On August 23, 2012, at 10:30 am, the Kennewick Police receive a report of a Hit & Run accident that just occurred in the Barnes & Noble parking lot at Columbia Center Mall. The victim of the Hit & Run reported that the suspect vehicle was a teal colored '96 Chevy pickup. As this call was being dispatched, a Richland PD Sergeant was in the area of Columbia Center Mall for an unrelated appointment. He saw the suspect vehicle directly ahead of him and confirmed through dispatch that the teal Chevy pickup was a stolen vehicle from Franklin County. The vehicle had just been stolen today. The RPD Sergeant followed the stolen vehicle into the Target parking lot. While waiting for additional officers to arrive, the four male occupants went inside Target. Kennewick PD, Richland PD and Benton County Deputies arrived on scene, contained all exits to the store and entered the store to take the suspects into custody. All four were taken into custody without incident.

It was then determined that five additional subjects were outside of Target (4 females and 1 male). All five admitted that they had been riding in the stolen pickup.

A total of nine juveniles from Pasco and Kennewick (5 males and 4 females) were taken into custody for Possession of Stolen Property.

The great teamwork of Richland, Kennewick and Benton County law enforcement led to a speedy recovery of a stolen vehicle and nine juvenile suspects held accountable for their actions.
