From Washington State to Washington D.C.
By Lena VargasTRI-CITIES-- Local leaders spent time in Washington lobbying for federal dollars. But they spend your money to do it. Franklin County Commissioner Rick Miller and Benton County Commissioner Leo Bowman say it’s worth it. Bowman says the cost of a past trip helped Benton County secure almost $3 million dollars for the Red Mountain Interchange Project. And Miller says it’s how Franklin County will get almost $2 million to finish the Road 170 landslide fix. “Oh, if I wasn't there, I don't think we would have gotten that,” said Miller. "That doesn't change just cause the economy's down, doesn't change the need. In fact, it impacts the need. So you don't pull back your horns and wait for mana from heaven because it won't come because the squeaky wheel does gets the grease,” said Bowman. Miller says it cost him a little over $2,000 to go to D.C. last week. Bowman didn’t give us a break down, but told us it cost him about $1,500. Most Popular |
