PENDLETON - "This is a unique year for Pendleton. Besides gearing up for the 100th anniversary in September, we have a bunch of projects we're trying to finish before Round Up," said Public Works Director Bob Patterson.

In this case, a bunch means 14, costing 30 million bucks. Let's look at a few of the big projects, like over here at Riverfront Park. The city plans to go to work on this ugly patch of grass this Spring.

"It could be a place to sit down and enjoy lunch. We're looking to move the farmers market there, which is now held on Main Street on Fridays during the summer," said Patterson.

Next up is the continuation of the Airport Road project. The road was finished last year. Now they need to install the water line so businesses can move in. That will start and finish this summer.

Then the Quinney Bridge will go under the knife in the fall, after Round Up. There is a school down the road from the bridge, and the kids need a safer route.

"We're adding sidewalks on both sides to help get children from this neighborhood here on 41st to feed in and follow the path to McCay School," said Patterson.

The construction in Pendleton just seems endless.
