HERMISTON - "We have theft complaints that we're dealing with now," said Lt. Tim Beinert.
The Eastside Market has been a Hermiston staple since the 50's.
It's still going strong despite recent break-ins.
"We had this front door busted. It was a smash and grab. That's what it's called. Then someone busted through this double thermal window. It's been kind of a fly in the ointment," said owner Joe Thompson.
I hopped in a Hermiston police car to check out the hot spots for thefts.
They include Main Street, where the Eastside Market sits.
"As far as foot traffic goes, you have certain parts of town that are heavily traveled because it connects to other places. Highway 395 is one because most businesses are on this road. It's an easy way to get from one side of town to the other," said Beinert.
Police say Walmart has been a frequent victim. Recently, a few teens were caught stealing DVDs. Walmart didn't want to talk about it.
So I asked Lieutenant Beinert what kind of things are people stealing?
"It's everything. It's lawn ornaments or light fixtures or someone leaves a toolbox in their pickup truck," said Beinert.
"I see people take beer and cigarettes because of the cost of the product," said Thompson.
"We might drive down the street 10 times and see the same people 9 times. That last time it's someone who just doesn't look like they should be there," said Beinert.
