PENDLETON - Pendleton schools are preparing to make cuts to next year's budget. They might have to shave off a million bucks. It could be more if a school levy doesn't pass this spring. It's a $50 tax to the average homeowner, but adds up to half a million for the district. Pendleton would use that money to keep school open all year, unlike cutting off school days this year.

"Our main goal is to bring back the 10 school days and have a full school year for the kids. That's the number one goal. We want to retain a complete year for our students," said Business Director Michelle Jones.

The district also expects enrollment to fall again next year, if only slightly. Every student lost means lost money to the district.
