TOUCHET, WA -- KEPR Action News has learned that leaders with the Touchet School District and union reps will meet Tuesday to figure out why all employees didn't get paid for the last pay period.
The problem includes everyone from the superintendent on down. Now, workers have to wait until the end of the month for a payday.
Action News also found out that the district's had continuing problems with the payroll.
We confirmed, the Touchet School District has not had its own payroll person for the last eight months. Since then, Educational Service District (ESD) took over payroll duties to process checks in the Tri Cities. Touchet Education Association President Cathy Plucker said there's been some lag-time processing some paychecks when new teachers are hired.
Recently, Touchet school leaders did hire a payroll employee to work within the district. That person is being trained by ESD right now.
