STANFIELD - A hike in Stanfield water rates will definitely happen.
That's because of the water line that will go in here along 395. Those living in Stanfield will have to help pay for it. Average water bills will go from about 25 dollars a month to 40 or more. The town hopes the new line will bring in new business.
"As the business and companies develop out there, they will absorb some of the expenses of maintaining the water. so we will be able to drop rates in six or eight years we can drop it back down," said Mayor Tom McCann.
The rate increase should happen by the summer, but it won't be permanent.
