79-year-old woman attacked in Northeast Oregon

MILTON-FREEWATER, Ore. (AP) — A 79-year-old woman was attacked and hospitalized in critical condition outside the northeastern Oregon town Milton-Freewater.

Umatilla County Sheriff Terry Rowan said the victim was Joyce Key, who lived near the unincorporated community Umapine.

Rowan says she was in critical condition on Thursday after the attack a day earlier. A spokeswoman at the Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, Wash., said Friday that she couldn't release information.

Rowan told the East Oregonian it appeared somebody entered the house to attack the woman, who was found bleeding from the head and unconscious. He said there were no immediate suspects.
