PENDLETON - A new industry may be coming to Oregon in the next decade.
The state says more than 160,000 new jobs will be added through 2018. We wanted to know what that means for Umatilla and Morrow County. They'll likely see five percent of that, or about 2,000 jobs. Most of them are in transportation, construction, maintenence, and especially health.
"The health industry definitely. Saint Anthony Hospital in Pendleton is going to be opening a new hospital in the city. Good Shepard Community Hospital and other clinics in Hermiston continue to expand so there will be more health occupations," said WorkSource's Kathy Mendoza.
With Keystone's purchase of the Fleetwood Plant, Worksource says by this time next year, the plant might have put 350 people to work.
