Hurt Puppy Needs Help!
By Holly Zuluaga
PASCO--A puppy in Pasco has people concerned.
The dog has been hanging around a gas station off Road 100 for about a week. The dog needs a vet, but nobody can catch her. Customers and employees at the Shell station have adopted a stray puppy with a bum leg. They're feeding her, leaving out water, and looking out for her, but they're worried. The dog needs help. “We've been trying to feed her, coax her and offer help, but she just seems a little bit hesitant where we can't get our hands on her,” Cindi Lepper said. Cindi Lepper and her mother-in-law Joyce are just two of the many people looking out for the pup. They come by several times a day. They don't know her name, but Joyce calls her "Baby Girl". “She was very friendly, but you can't touch her,” Joyce Lepper said. I caught a peak at the pup, but she wouldn't let me get too close. These are pictures taken early in the morning when workers say they'll find her laying near the pumps. She's the talk of the gas station, touching everyone's heart. One of the employees even wants to adopt her. “What has amazed me is the amount of people that have come to this station. All of us with the same intent and going inside and probably using our last dollars to buy biscuits and gravy and dog food and hot dogs,” Cindi Lepper said. When she first showed up "Baby Girl" was skin and bones. Cindi says she's looking better, but her leg needs attention. “Our concern is that if the dog isn't helped for one we won't be able to save her leg,” Cindi Lepper said. Cindi says even Animal Control couldn't catch her. Cindi runs Adams County Pet Rescue and says they'll take her in and get her vet care, but they're pleading with the community for anyone who has the tools or experience to catch the dog. “With the economy right now all kinds of things are happening to dogs, people are losing their homes and so the dogs are the least of their worries,” Cindi Lepper said. Nobody knows if the dog has a home, but there are plenty of people that want to give her one. First they’ll have to catch her. If you want to help go to: http://othellopetrescue.homestead.com/ |
