New Store Looking To Pay You!
By Holly Zuluaga
KENNEWICK—Plato’s Closet just opened up in Kennewick off of Canal, and they’re looking to buy your clothes!
Ashley Britain has made three trips to Plato Closet, and they've only been open a few days. “I brought my stuff in because I kind of needed some cash,” customer Ashley Britain said. Plato’s paid her $100 for her first load, a garbage bag full of brand name clothes. “I think there is a definite need for it, I always went to Portland for stores like these,” Ashley said. For the first month and a half they're open, Plato's is only buying clothes, it's a simple concept, you bring in your gently used clothes, and they'll make you an offer. It's up to you whether or not you want to cash in on it. “The economy is slow right now and it gives people a change to do two things, help the environment by recycling, and put some money back in their pockets from stuff that they can't use anymore,” owner Scott Ross said. Scott says the Tri-Cities is an ideal spot to open up shop right now because Plato's does well in a down economy, and our area is a retail hot spot. “People come from all over to do some shopping which will be good for us, a lot of good brands floating around the Tri-Cities that people can sell to us,” Scott Ross said. He’s banking on it; Scott says he quit a good job to get the store up and running. The store had a big first day, buying over 900 dollars in merchandise. Scott says most stores get that in a few days not one. It's catching on as people pile in to sell. Scott only hopes he'll get the same response when it's time for customers to buy. |
