WALLA WALLA - In two weeks, the state will execute Darold Stenson. I'll be the state's first execution in seven years.

On Thursday, our news cameras got a look inside the execution chamber.

Stenson was ordered to die for killing his wife and his business partner 15 years ago. Stenson made this double murder look like a murder suicide, so he could cash in on the life insurance.

In Washington, a prisoner can be put to death by hanging or lethal injection. It's up to the prisoner, but Stenson didn't choose, so by law the state defaults to lethal injection.

Fourteen people will witness Stenson's execition including the victims' family, investigators who worked the case and the media.

Action News will have continuing coverage in the coming weeks leading up to the execution including our own reporter who will be in the room to witness it and bring you the report.
