RICHLAND--Action news has been following the story of Aidan Zaugg and Cooper Larson over the years.

Cooper Larson has lost his battle with cancer.

He died Sunday night and Aidan Zaugg has also taken a turn for the worst.

Almost since the beginning the stories of these little boys have come intertwined.

It remains true even as one has left this world.

From the beginning Aidan Zaugg's story has touched the community.

He beat the odds when doctors had only given him months to live.

"His miracle is greater than all of us, and I'm just happy to be a part of it," Aidan's father Mike said.

His miracle gave hope to the Larsons.

Aidan met Cooper Larson almost a year ago.

Action News was there and you couldn't deny the instant bond.

Cooper was diagnosed with the same rare form of brain cancer.

"Our hearts go out to them," Mike Zaugg said.

At just four years old, Cooper lost his battle Sunday night.

"Words can't describe what they're going through, we hurt for them," Mike said.

Now the Zaugg's family is told that Aidan has only days to live.

"He's an angel, he's one of my best friends," Mike said.

Right now Aidan is resting at the home.

He can no longer speak.

"He communicates with his eyes, one blink for yes, one for no, three for I love you, and a lot for Dad you're annoying me," Mike said.

Over night, friends and strangers left red balloons and candles outside the Zaugg's house to show their love and support.

" It was kick started by a single bouquet of balloons," Mike said.

Despite the diagnosis the Zaugg's remain hopeful.

Aidan has always been a fighter.

"He never gets down anyway, we're always trying to catch his spirit, he's infections and I'm a very lucky father," Mike said.
