RICHLAND-- The owner of Henry's restaurant says a former employee robbed the business at gunpoint Friday night.

Police say 37-year-old Michael Shipman entered Henry's at around 8:45 PM, wearing pantyhose over his head, and demanded money from the safe while holding employees at gunpoint.

The robbery led to a car chase, and then police pursued Shipman on foot. He ran into the parking lot of the Fluor building, and hurt himself when he jumped 18 feet to the ground, trying to escape.

Henry's owner said his employees did all the right things to assist police in capturing the robber, and customers say they aren't deterred by the bad apple.

"I would come back anytime," said Robert Griswold, who was eating at Henry's for the first time Saturday. "It was very pleasant."

Shipman was arrested and charged with robbery, eluding, hit and run and driving without a license. He also had two outstanding warrants. Police say he will need surgery for his injuries.

The gun turned out to be an air pistol.
