No Laughing Matter
By Sade Malloy
Union Gap -- Yakima's Cross Church works with the Carson & Barnes Circus every summer by doing part of the advertising.
But the local church was upset when another circus tried rolling into town two weeks before Saturday's opening day. The church felt the new circus was trying to steal their business. Rod Ficek, Cross Church says, "We were doing all the promotions with TV, radio and newspaper ads and they didn't have the exposure we had and we thought our exposure was going to help their circus." The Cross Church says they spent about $6,000 advertising the Carson & Barnes Circus. In the end, the rival circus never made it to town. |
