Long-Awaited Homecoming for Aidan
By Chelsea Kopta
PASCO -- a group full of family and friends met Aidan and his family at the airport with arms stuffed full of signs and balloons.
After three weeks gone, it was an emotional and long-awaited greeting. "I am so excited, we are all so excited. On the way back from the airport Aidan could not wipe the smile off of his face. He just kept saying 'I'm so happy to be home," Aidan's mom Tanya said. Aidan's appearance had changed quite a bit since we last saw the little guy, mostly due to his strong medication. But after three weeks consulting with doctors in Arizona, the family made a tough decision: they chose not to get treatment for Aidan in Phoenix. They want to keep giving him the medicine he is on now and build upon the success of his current chemotherapy. So they came back home. And we had surprises waiting for them. We put the calls out to the community and you helped us get the house all cleaned up and food stocked in the fridge. Plus, we started work on installing new carpeting to help Aidan's immune system and a hot tub to help relax his muscles. "We're going to get Aidan better," Tanya said. "We're just going to keep looking for stuff to do...we refuse to allow this to be his destiny." You can follow Aidan's entire story on his website at whynotaidan.com. |
