Badly Decomposed Body Found In River
By Sade Malloy
Yakima -- A Sunday along the Yakima River was supposed to be quiet and calm instead by the afternoon, the area near Robertson Landing was packed with emergency crews.
Yakima Firefighters and Sheriff's Deputies were called to the scene after people found a body floating in the river. Cal Slatter found the body. He says, "Just trout fishing here in my drift boat just boating and we were coming down the river and we came around where this log was there was a dead body." Sgt. John Durand with the Yakima Sheriff's Office told us, "There's a tree that went down in the river and the body was actually entangled in some branches at the top of the tree." The body was found about a quarter of a mile from Robertson Landing. Sheriff's deputies tell Action News it appears to be a Hispanic man in camouflage pants. Sade Malloy, Action News says, "Did it look like it was there for awhile?" Cal Slatter replied, "Yeah pretty disgusting you could hardly tell it was a person." Deputies say the body was badly decomposed and it's been in the water for a long time. They also say there's nothing suspicious about the case at this time. |
