BENTON CITY-- Three Benton City families had to be evacuated from their homes Saturday, when a fire broke out on Knox Road.
More than a dozen fire vehicles and a plane helped contain the blaze in about an hour.
The fire took out a some sheds and a lot of grass and brush, but no one was hurt. Neighbors say, with the hot weather, the flames and smoke didn't surprise them.
"There's been a few," said Wayne Elston. "Not since a couple years passed, but there's always fire danger up here in the rural area."
Crews were called out from Prosser, Benton County and Richland. Sheriff's deputies were also on the scene.
Firefighters were still investigating Saturday, and said they did not know the cause of the fire, or the extent of its damage.
