By Robin Woodson
UNION GAP -- Meet Timothy Mcferrin and Brandon Cagle.
Two contestants determined to be the next American Idol . . . well not quite. These two guys are competing in this year's, Union Gap "Idol Contest." "This is my entire dream," Idol Contestant, Timothy Mcferrin, said. Mcferrin is a 58-year old minister. He says he's been singing his whole life, but his dream is to take it to the stage. "I thought well, I'll have my daughter straighten out my mop and get some bondo in my face and try it," Mcferrin said. Twelve year-old Brandon Cagle is taking on the challenge too. It's not Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson he's obsessed with. He's all about the original American Idol. "I've loved Elvis ever since I was a little kid and he's inspired me a lot," Cagle said. And while there's no big contract at stake or promise of superstar status, these 2 contestants say they just want the town get a taste of their talent. "After I'm done, I'll go, Thank ya, Thank ya very much, at the very end," Cagle added. They'll have some stiff competition, 30 people from the Yakima Valley entered the contest. The grand prize winner gets $150 dollars and other prizes. |
