2 arrested in Umatilla County after robbery reported

UMATILLA COUNTY NEWS RELEASE -- Umatilla County Sheriff’s Deputies and Oregon State Police responded to Rodeo City Inn in Pendleton on the morning of March 28th. Logan Melchert, 24, of Vancouver, Washington reported a male subject pointed a gun at his friend Nathan O’Conner, 21, of Portland, Oregon and took an undisclosed amount of cash. Melchert was with O’Conner and reported that the male subject knocked out one of O’Conner’s teeth. The subject also hit Melchert in the face and then took off running.

Deputies later learned the male suspect and a female were hiding in a camp trailer parked near the Rodeo City Inn. The male suspect, later identified as Ean B. Pierce, 25, was with a female, Lori Helen Pierce, 45, also known as Lori Cardenas. Both subjects were taken into custody on unrelated warrants.

Ean B. Pierce was wanted out of Umatilla County for Failure to Appear in court on Possession of Methamphetamine, Resisting Arrest, Interfering, Tampering with Evidence, Criminal Trespass and Possession of less than an ounce of Marijuana. Bail on the warrant was set at $35,000. Pierce also had a “no bail” warrant out of the State of Washington for Escape from Community Custody, with original charges of Robbery 2, Assault 2, and Theft 2.

Lori Helen Pierce was arrested on a City of Hermiston warrant for failure to appear on a Theft 3 charge, with bail set at $20,000. Both subjects were taken into custody and lodged in Umatilla County Jail.

Charges from the incident involving Melchert and O’Connor are still pending and under investigation.
