Obama Holds Town Hall Event in Pendleton
By Molly Kelleher
PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) - Before leaving Oregon, Sen. Barack Obama
stopped in Pendleton to tell voters the country can not wait to end the Iraq war, improve schools and fix the health care system. Obama also told voters in the heavily Republican corner of the state that incomes were stagnant during the recent economic expansion. Long lines to get into Sunday's ticket-only event formed hours ahead of time, and a capacity crowd of at least 3,500 filled the Convention Center. Obama is heavily favored in Oregon over Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. Clinton left Oregon on Saturday to campaign in Kentucky, a state she is expected to win. |
