Richland police arrest Wapato man following chase in stolen car
RICHLAND, Wash. -- Spike strips stopped a man who police say was trying to get away. Richland police arrested Wapato resident Rafael Diaz, 23, around 12:30 a.m. Monday.

Police said Richland officers spotted a car matching the description of a stolen vehicle from Kennewick. When they tried to stop him, he ignored officers and kept driving westbound on I-182.

The truck finally came to a stop near Van Giesen and George Washington Way. That's when police said he fled on foot.

Officers took him into custody after a short chase, they said.

Police said he had another person's wallet. Inside the truck officers spotted wallets, a purse and other electronics that appeared to be stolen.

The truck was impounded and confirmed stolen.

Diaz was booked into Benton County Jail for eluding. He was also charged with resisting arrest, obstruction and possession of stolen property.
