Toppenish -- Breast feeding has always been a hot topic.

Whether it's doctors claiming it's healthier, or local activists who say breast feeding in public just isn't appropriate.

But local hospitals aren't staying quiet anymore.

Toppenish Community Hospital is taking sides.

And "actively encouraging" breast feeding to new moms because they say it's point blank, better for the child.

Dr. Mark Farley, Toppenish Community Hospital says, "We're supporters of breast feeding and I think most of us are in favor of not sending formula with a Mom."

Sarah Arambul says, "I don't think that any mother should feel forced to breast feel at all."

Toppenish Community Hospital doesn't give out baby formula unless you are physically unable of doing it.

Or absolutely refuse breast feeding.

The only formula that they give to everyone is from a promotional baby gift pack that also includes diapers.
