BENTON COUNTY - A former police officer cop will spend the next decade in prison for sex crimes. Ryan Graichen was sentenced on seven counts. It's a case KEPR has stayed on top of for more than a year through all the tears in the courtroom.

Ryan Graichen was allowed to speak at his sentencing and took full advantage. He rambled on for more than 40 minutes sobbing on and off throughout his soliloquy as he waiting to hear his fate. 10 years in prison for seven counts of sex crimes. It was a similar scene to the times he's stood before a judge crying and pleading for mercy.

“I am so sorry for approaching you causing you the fear and anxiety that I caused,” said Ryan Graichen while addressing the court.

He made a plea deal in the fall to multiple counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, and commercial sex abuse of a minor. This was for propositioning multiple teens in Columbia Park to come back to his house and perform sex acts while he taped them.

“It was hard for me to think that he came up to me, like what if I was with my son, and he took us what if I was alone, I can't take my son anywhere alone?,” said one of the victims.

But this wasn't all. Graichen appeared to be a ticking time bomb who never seemed to learn from his mistakes.

He'd already resigned from Portland PD after he was caught videotaping girls at high school dances where he was a school resource officer. He had been zooming in on their private parts. Graichen was never charged with a crime, and left the force on his own.

After his arrest in Kennewick, police told KEPR they recovered tens of thousands of pieces of pornography, calling it one of the most extensive collections they'd ever seen. That find didn't result in additional charges.

But at one point the judge reduced Graichen's bail allowing him to go live with his parents so they could keep an eye on him.

The bomb went off again and Graichen was back behind bars just weeks later.

Court papers said he created fake Facebook profiles the day after he got out of jail and reached out to an ex-girlfriend he's been ordered not to contact.

Graichen faced felony stalking charges as well. The judge revoked his bail, and he's been behind bars ever since. Stalking charges were dropped when the plea deal was made.

But the crimes are significant, and in court Graichen seemed to finally take responsibility for what he's done.

“Again I am completely remorseful, I owe the young ladies behind me the greatest of apologies, and I'm truly sorry,” said Graichen.

He's now got the next 10 years to try to take ownership for those he's harmed.

Our partners at the Tri-City Herald reported that in a statement to the Department of Corrections Graichen had claimed he was suffering from post-traumatic stress due to seeing his partner shoot and kill a suspect while with Portland PD. He claimed this incident led him to a life of sex addiction.
