BURBANK -- Burbank Schools are saving money by saving energy.
An audit showed the district was wasting thousands with high energy equipment. So Burbank made $2 million in upgrades. Those includes a solar panel, motion lights, and new boilers. In the next ten-years, they expect an additional two-million in savings. Since Governor Gregoire's most recent mention of budget cuts, they are looking forward to having these savings to lean on.

Superintendent Lou Gates tells KEPR, "This means our community will have these savings. We won't have to go to our community to upgrade some of the essential needs that we found in our heating and A/C systems. A win win for our district."

About half of the upgrades were paid for with grant money -- so the total cost wasn't on taxpayers.
