McKenna: Human Trafficking a Serious Issue

PASCO - State Attorney General Rob McKenna hopes he's one day the man making the decisions on the state budget since he's running for the Governor's seat, and he came to CBC Friday with human trafficking on the agenda.

McKenna says it's a rising issue in the world and here in our community. As many as 300,000 people are trafficked within the country each year, most for the sex trade.

Washington State is one of the leading areas in the country since it's close to the international border and the Attorney General says no place is immune from it, even here in the Tri-Cities.

“In the Tri-Cities, I haven’t seen specific data because I'm not sure specific data's been collected yet, were so early in the process, but the Tri-Cities is probably typical of most parts of the state,” said Attorney General Rob McKenna.

McKenna also says one of the biggest factors to Human Trafficking in the U-S comes from website likes craigslist.com and backpage.com, where they've found multiple incidents.
