100 photos that are worth your time - the 2011 Fallen Firefighters Memorial

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) and the Department of Homeland Security's U.S. Fire Administration held the 30th annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg on October 14 - 16, 2011. A plaque with the names of 72 firefighters who died in the line of duty in 2010 and 17 who died in previous years was added to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial, located on the National Fire Academy campus. The plaques surrounding the Memorial, which was established in 1981, contain the names of more than 3,400 firefighters, including Chief Chet D. Bauermeister, 47, of the Franklin County Fire District 4 who died in an apparatus accident while fighting a wildland/grass fire on June 23, 2010.
