HERMISTON - Lunch prices will cost a bit more for Hermiston students next year.

The district plans to raise lunch prices by a dime at all three school levels, and they will rise again the following year.

The district would like to get prices on par with what it could get reimbursed by the feds when it covers the cost for some kids.

“Our food service industry breaks even every year,” said Food Services Director Betsy Heath. “We're basically just following what federal guidelines tell us we have to do and that extra money generated will go back to the food service program.”

Other districts in Umatilla County like Pendleton and Milton-Freewater can expect to see a similar increase, although specifics have not yet been announced.
