WWPD Sergeant Announces Retirement
WALLA WALLA POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE-- Sergeant Randy Allessio has announced his retirement effective June 30th, following 39 years of public service. Sgt. Allessio started his career as a Dispatcher April 7th, 1972. He was hired as a Police officer in January of 1975. Three years later, he took a position as a Detective in the Juvenile Division of the department. In 1980, he was promoted to Sergeant where he spent the vast majority of his time on patrol as the afternoon or night shift supervisor. Allessio has spent the last 8 years of his career as the supervisor over the Department’s Special Teams Unit, comprised of Detectives working drug and gang crimes.
Allessio was instrumental in helping start the Emergency Services Unit (SWAT) and the Crime Free Rental Housing program. His is the 3rd retirement taking affect this year of officers with 30 or more years of service to the community.
