Firefighters Training in Abandoned Building in Pasco
PASCO -- Fire season might be delayed because of our unseasonably cold and wet spring. But the cooler weather is a good chance to get some training in.
Half a dozen departments using this empty building in Pasco to practice fire response.
More than 300 firefighters will go through the scenario with full gear, full of smoke, hauling victims out.
And while KEPR was there, we also wanted to know about what to expect with wildfire season this summer.
"We're not into our usual range or warm temperatures during the day so that may delay it a little bit on the other hand a late spring heat wave would bring us to current time line. So it depends on what mother nature is going to dish out for us this year," said Captain Jeff Ripley for Benton County Fire District #1.
And KEPR found out, yes we've had a lot of rain but one good heat wave can dry up our vegetation pretty quick. So we could still have an active season.
