WEST RICHLAND NEWS RELEASE -- On February 12, 2011 at approximately 1638 hours Joel Vance, 52, and his wife were riding their motorcycles west on Kennedy Road just west of the Bombing Range intersection. A mid size 4 door sedan driven by Christopher Berry, 22, was approaching and crossed the center line into the westbound lane. The vehicles collided. Joel and Lorri Vance were transported to Kadlec Hospital. Lorri Vance was admitted with non life threatening injuries. Joel Vance was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Officers of the West Richland Police Department conducted an investigation of the collision and forwarded the case to the Benton County Prosecutors office for charging. On April 20, 2011 information was filed with Superior Court of Benton County charging Christopher Berry with one count of Vehicular Homicide and one count of Vehicular Assault. Christopher Berry will be arraigned on April 28, 2011 in Benton County Superior Court on those charges.
