WA Attorney General to Visit Tri-Cities for "Read to Lead" Breakfast

TRI-CITIES, WA -- Attorney General Rob McKenna will be speaking at Friday's “Read to Lead” Breakfast, an event to raise funds in support of The Children’s Reading Foundation of the Mid-Columbia. The inaugural “Read to Lead” Breakfast will take place on April 1st at 7:30 AM at the Three Rivers Convention Center.

The breakfast will last for one hour and will include a keynote address by Attorney General Rob McKenna, the presentation of the Literacy Champion Award, and a video presentation prepared by Lockheed Martin. Following the video, there will be an appeal for guests to consider supporting the Children’s Reading Foundation through financial donations, volunteering, or advocacy in the community.

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Sun Pacific Energy, there will be no cost for guests to attend the event. “We are excited for Attorney General McKenna to serve as our keynote speaker for this inaugural event”, said Craig Eerkes, President of Sun Pacific Energy. “The Read to Lead Breakfast will be a celebration of our community’s dedication to children’s literacy and a call to action for individuals to continue, and increase, their support of this community investment.”

Following the breakfast, event sponsors will have a private reception with the Attorney General before heading to Hawthorne Elementary School where the Attorney General will read two stories to first grade students and answer questions about school and reading. The reading event will begin at 9:15 at Hawthorne Elementary School located at 3520 W. John Day Ave.
