BENTON COUNTY -- Copper theft has gone down in southern Benton County after the arrest of two suspected copper wire thieves.

Officers found three people in a stolen vehicle with a stolen trailer full of wire three weeks ago. They ran off, but now two of the three suspects have been arrested. Chester Paradiso is being held in Benton County Jail on burglary charges. The other suspect is being held in Oregon on other charges and awaiting extradition to Washington State.

Before the arrests, copper wire thefts in the southern part of the county were nearing a total of $50,000.

With those two behind bars, there haven't been any wire thefts in the area, but the police say one more suspect is still on the loose. Police are still on the lookout for Cory Winston, 34, from Irrigon. They ask for anyone with information on Winston's whereabouts to call the Benton County Sheriff's Department at 509-735-6555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
