Burbank Crash Update: Husband Died After Surgery

BURBANK, Wash. -- Hours after an elderly woman died in a car crash in Burbank Thursday, Action News confirmed her husband died too.

Elmer Riley had heart surgery for a torn aorta and as of late Thursday, was listed in critical condition. But patient care coordinators said he later died. His wife, Mildred, was killed on impact at the accident earlier that day.

State Patrol said Mildred and Elmer Riley were heading westbound on Highway 12 toward Humorist when the Toyota Camry Elmer was driving smashed into the back of a semi-truck which was stopped at the light. Both the Rileys were 90-years-old. They lived in Wallula.

Troopers are still investigating the cause of the crash.
