RICHLAND - Sounds like Sci-Fi, but hyperbaric chambers are actually becoming more mainstream medicine.
KADLEC now has a hyperbaric chamber.
It's filled with 100% oxygen. That helps circulation and immune systems.
Kathleen Dodson is the first to use it at KADLEC.
She's had 20 treatments for skin wounds she developed from her type two diabetes.
"I can't see the wounds but we have pictures of them and the doctor told me last week I made more progress in that week than the whole time he's seen me. So that's pretty great," said Dodson.
Dodson said the chamber is relaxing, it feels like you're in an airplane when your ears pop.
A typical treatment takes about 90 minutes.
