Speaking Out Against Cuts
KENNEWICK - The governor's budget has gotten local seniors all riled up. On Wednesday, groups like Meals on Wheels and in-home care workers came together to speak out about the cuts. These programs for the elderly and disabled are at risk from severe cuts or may be eliminated all together.

Denise Brown explained her concern, "I could have ended up going to a nursing home and I like being in my home so having the home care workers come into help. This agency provides a lot."

Even Governor Gregoire isn't in favor of her own proposed cuts, but she had to present a balanced budget. This could pave the way to tax hikes instead of program cuts. The legislature meets next week, beginning January 11.
