Haircuts and Hope at Salon Monroe

Haircuts and Hope at Salon Monroe
It was a day of beauty both inside and out as a lobby full of eager donors waited their turn for a hair cut that would make a difference in a young womans life

"She was always on time for work and showed up with her smiling little face!! says co-worker Kimmy Reidt.

Michelle Roberts was a beloved stylist at Salon Monroe until tragedy hit.

Manager Aryn Gray explains, "She gave birth 3 months ago to a beautiful baby boy Adin, unfortunately he had some complications and needs 24 hour nursing care"

Kimmy adds "He has a breathing tube and a feeding tube and just taking it day by day and shes a good little mom ... she really is."

As uncertainty and medical expenses mounted her fellow stylists knew they had to do something, so this weekend they held a fundraiser in Adin's honor to help lighten the finanical burden. They 'built it' hoping the people would come and ... they did. Manager Aryn Gray shared some numbers with us " Its been amazing!! 1/2 hour into it we had over 50 haircuts signed up and I think at 2 hours into it we had over 100!"

You didn't have to be in the market for a new look to participate, there were rows of items donated for the silent auction, local vendors and even a bake sale! The love and energy in the room made it clear, this was more than just a job with employee's who punch a clock.

"We're all a really big family here at salon monroe" said Kimmy, "Anything like this happens, we're all gonna do our best to pull together and help out in any situation .... (she's) WAY more than just a co-worker!!"

... and Salon Monroe became *way more than a place to find a new look, it became a place to find hope.
