KENNEWICK, Wash. -- If you're like most of us, you likely need as much inspiration as possible when it comes to working out. Action News has uncovered one more reason to hit the gym. Be warned: it involves the StairMaster.

Firefighters from around the globe are preparing for the big Scott Firefighter Stairclimb in Seattle. All proceeds go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The local fundraising event will help train firefighters for the stairclimb in a couple weeks. Stop by the Richland or Kennewick Gold's Gym locations Thursday between 4 and 7 p.m. Consider making a donation to compete against a firefighter on the stair machine.

The time to beat is 69 flights in 12 minutes and seven seconds. If you're feeling ambitious and want to beat it, just donate a minimum of $20. You could win a three-month membership while you're at it.
