A mother and her two young daughters were home when flames broke out. And fire crews tell us the home was fully engulfed by the time they arrived. A neighbor and good friend of the homeowner told KEPR the chilling details of how it unfolded.
Amanda Davis, a friend of the fire victim says, "The fire was about three feet in diameter and she was- as she was trying to put it out it immediately went up it was about five feet and so she went back inside, the side of the house went up in flames, she went up to the second level got her daughters and told them to get downs it's an emergency and got out."
Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fire, but believe it started on the back deck. The homeowner and her children are staying in Richland with family as the investigation continues.
