Phone scam hits the Tri-Cities
KENNEWICK-- Scammers are calling local residents posing as Benton PUD employees telling them they have an outstanding bill.
They tell the victims if they don't give them their credit card information immediately they will have their power shut off. And many say they sound legit. So, the PUD wants you to know that is not how they would ever do business.
Manager Christie Mcloom says, "and we really don't want people to give out personal information, bank accounts, pin numbers, credit card information, address, anything when someone calls and initiates a phone call to you."
Kennewick Police say if you received one of these calls and gave them your information, call the non-emergency Kennewick PD immediately (509) 628-0333.
