Layoffs at Lourdes

Layoffs at Lourdes
PASCO -- Lourdes employees were unexpectedly hit with a pink slip this morning in Pasco. They cut 19 positions today, most at the management level. KEPR learned there could be more to come.

The hospital said it's trying to make up for a slight deficit and prepare for upcoming changes in federal reimbursement regulations. People said any layoffs are tough in a thriving community.

"It's gonna bring us down even more. To me, it hits home because my fiancee is going to school to be a nurse, so it rules out one more hospital she probably won't get hired at because of layoffs," says Anthony Jackson.

The 19 jobs reduced the workforce at Lourdes by two percent.
