Bullet Likely Came from Land Owned by the Hospital That Treated Boy
FINLEY—The Benton County Sheriff’s Office says the stray bullet that hit a young boy at Hover Park this weekend—came from a property owned by the very hospital that treated him: Kennewick General Hospital.

Captain Steve Keene says the land is on the other side of Hover Park and that it’s often used by gun clubs or hunters to practice their shooting.

They say they’re taking the problem seriously in talking to Kennewick General Hospital.

“And we're putting in a call to them to speak with them to see what we can do so prevent something like this from happening again,” said Keene.

KGH wouldn't speak to Action News on camera about that property, but over the phone a spokesperson told us the hospital is talking with the sheriff's office to address the problem.

The bullet hit Matthew Cardenas boy on Saturday, after his family came to the park to ride ATV's.

The sheriff's office says it will have extra patrols in the area this weekend because of this, but that deputies can't stop people from practice shooting on the other side of the hill-- unless KGH says it doesn't want it on its property.
