RICHLAND, WA -- State Patrol is meeting with Richland Police and the Washington Department of Transportation to figure out how to improve the Jadwin overpass near Beaver Bark on I-182. They're considering new lighting, maintenance and increased patrols after three incidents where rocks were thrown down at cars here.
Late Janurary, witnesses reported seeing a young boys heave hunks of concrete at cars below. It flew through the windshield of a car and struck one man in the hand, badly injuring him. A few months before that, troopers said someone chucked a rock at a semi-truck driver and could have killed the driver if it hit him.
"What are we missing? Sgt. Zach Elmore questioned, with Washington State Patrol. "What can we do so we can prevent this? One is too many. I know it's only three but it's only been the past couple months."
The agencies are meeting on this issue Thursday.
