KENNEWICK--It's like Google Maps, only more useful for local people. That's the pitch from the City of Kennewick on a new virtual feature on its website.
For one, you can find your house on the map and click and see everything around it like utility lines--both above and underground.
That helps say if you're putting in a fence or a pool so you don't hit a wire.
David Granata says for the city it means being able to save employee time. He will present the features at Tuesday night’s city council meeting.
“There's a lot just from curious individuals who want to draw some maps just because those kind of maps are getting very popular now,” said Granata.
The big idea behind this is to access public information available at City Hall -- without leaving your computer.
There are applications for developers and people moving to area as well.
