A CALL ANSWERED PART 3
By Holly Zuluaga
TRI-CITIES--The couple living in a storage unit may have found a long term fix.
Action News first told you about Dan and Karen Christesen, they were evicted from their storage unit last week. Since then, the offers of help continue to pour in. They're weighing all the offers, but seem to have found a long-term home. After sifting through multiple offers for jobs and housing, Dan and Karen have found a fit. “Dan loves gardening plus there are animals and I'm an animal lover,” Karen Christesen said. The person helping the couple wants to remain anonymous, but they'll be working with animals. She's offered them jobs and a place to stay if they pass a background check. Karen is anxious to learn a new trade and have a long term solution. “I would love to be able to get up in the morning and have breakfast with my wife. Go to work, come home and spend time with my wife and our pets, and what I guess the American dream is. Just last week, Dan and Karen were kicked out of the storage shed they'd been living in for months. The storage warehouse owner came to KEPR Action News, looking for help. “I was actually expecting this response and that's the reason I actually called you because I just wanted to get them in the news because I knew people would step up and help,” Mitch Brownsworth said. Minutes after our story aired, a Pasco couple rushed over to pick up Dan and Karen, and took them in for the night. Vicki Watson cleaned out her cupboard, offering supplies for their next step. Our newsroom got so many calls offering help, the couple set up a bank account to take donations. The Christesen’s said they were overwhelmed with the donations. Still amazed at all the support, Dan says others in similar situations have reached out to him. “I know that I'm not the only one in this position and I hope that if there are others that they'd be willing to offer the same to them,” Dan Christesen said. The family that Dan and Karen are staying with now treated the couple to a nice relaxing weekend. They even took them shopping. |
