RICHLAND -- Nearly $2 billion in funding at Hanford. On Thursday, Senator Murray defended the work done here with stimulus dollars.

We're at the six month mark since stimulus dollars came to Hanford.
Today Senator Patty Murray made a stop in town to get a closer look at the work being done.

She took a tour of the HAMMER training facility.

This is where a lot of contractors get trained for specific jobs and safety standards happening at the site.

We're number. 3 in the nation for the amount of stimulus money we got allocated, with nearly $2 billion.

"I have never seen anything this transparent. Websites and tracking, but are there places in other states where you can find bad examples of spending? Sure but those are isolated, this is really providing a strong economic future," said Sen. Murray.

We talk a lot of how many jobs are here because of the money, but we thought this number was pretty telling too -- 35,000. That's how many applications came in for all those 5,600 jobs.
