PASCO--Thousands of people crammed into Pasco Saturday for the state cross country meet.

People from across the state helped give our local economy a boost.

For one local business, they definitely got an "extra shot".

Michelle White has been here since Roasters Coffee opened eight months ago, and with any new business it takes time to heat up.

“It's picking up a lot but usually I'm here by myself or someone else is here by themselves and it's steady but not crazy like today (Saturday),” Michelle White said.

There's busy and then there's slammed, the state cross country meet in Pasco put Roasters right in the path of cross country runners and their families. Workers were serving up lattes left and right, but no one's complaining.

“It's been really fast paced. People coming at us from both sides, drive through walk up, lines,” Michelle White said.

It's the only coffee shop in the area so Roasters planned ahead, bringing in another worker to help Michelle for the event.

A good thing because both employees barely got a chance to catch their breath between customers.

“It feels like we're like triple busy. We're a lot busier than we usually are,” Michelle White said.

Michelle says they're already well above normal sales and with sales come tips.

That means extra cash in Michelle's wallet.

“It's definitely a nice boost to me. Giving me that little bonus for working my butt off,” Michelle White said.

It's a nice extra "shot" of business for the coffee shop.

Roasters says they rely a lot on weekend events like this to boost sales.

Action News also called the Red Lion Hotel in Pasco next to the tournament.

They've had a busy weekend.

They were booked up Friday night.
