UMATILLA - The Port of Umatilla wants county voters to triple its tax rate.

It would cost 45 bucks a year instead of 15. We know the port is just one tax, so Action News pulled the numbers on how much Umatilla County homeowners pay in taxes overall. For the average family, it's around 1,300 bucks a year. That includes city, school, fire, parks and rec, Blue Mountain Community College, and water taxes. We talked to a taxpayer who doesn't want to see her bills go up any more.

“No way! They ask for more and then someone else will and someone else will. Then we don't have anything left. I don't get a raise in social security this year or next year, and they want to triple it?” said Hermiston Resident, Jackie Robins.

The new tax is scheduled to be on the November ballot.
