PENDLETON - This week, the Pendleton Center for the Arts hosted the 4th Annual Rock and Roll Camp. Teenaged kids worked all week to improve their musical skills.

“It's an amazing experience and how if you have lyrics they help you put the chords and the music to it,” said a camper.

“It's a great way to meet new friends and to just rock out," said one camper.

“You can make music on your own. You don't need a video game. You don't need any big corporate machine. You don't need any help from anybody other than your friends,” said camp coordinator Peter Walters.

“Just working with other people on new instruments other than just yours,” said a camper.

“I learned quite a bit, like how to separate things on the drums and lots of different beats and styles. I've learned a lot of guitar stuff, too,” said another camper.

“Probably new techniques on how to write a song. So far, I've gone about it one way. I've learned different ways to go about writing a song,” said one camper.

“My favorite part about rock camp? Rocking out on Main Street,” said another camper.

After a week of practice, all the kids are ready to take the stage, channel their inner Jimi Hendrix or Janis Joplin, and play like there is no tomorrow.
